Kite Festival 2026
The Scheveningen Kite Festival will take place in 2026 on Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on both days.
This year marks the 47th edition of the festival. Kite flyers from various countries come to Scheveningen to showcase their spectacular kites and put on impressive demonstrations.
Admission is free.
Location: Scheveningen beach, directly south (to the left) of The Pier.
International
The Scheveningen Kite Festival is an international event featuring kite flyers from various countries. During the festival, you can enjoy kite shows and demonstrations in different disciplines.
Because kite flying has long since become more than simply attaching a string to a kite. You can see power kiting, stunt kites and megakites, among other things. The enormous single-line kites are particularly impressive when they appear above the beach.
Bring Your Own Kite
Would you rather fly a kite yourself? Feel free to bring your own kite. There is plenty of space on the beach for you to have a go.
Whether you’re a beginner or have been flying kites for years, everyone can join in. Of course, with so many kites in the air at the same time, you do need to be a little careful not to get the strings tangled!
Young and Old
There is plenty for children to enjoy at the Kite Festival too. There are workshops where children can make and decorate their own kites.
And if you didn’t bring your own kite, you can of course buy a ready-made one at one of the various stalls.
Getting to the Scheveningen Kite Festival
The Kite Festival is easily accessible from central The Hague by public transport, bicycle and car.
Those travelling by public transport can use various HTM trams and bus services heading towards Scheveningen. As routes and timetables can change, it is advisable to check the latest 9292 travel information or HTM information shortly before you leave.
From The Hague Central Station, you can travel to Scheveningen by public transport. Coming by car? From the motorway, follow the signs for Scheveningen Bad.
Parking in Scheveningen
There are several parking garages around the boulevard, including Interparking Boulevard Scheveningen, Parking Nieuwe Parklaan, Parking Kurhaus and Parking Strand.
Scheveningen can get very busy during a major event. If possible, arrive early and expect extra traffic around the boulevard.
Scheveningen is also easy to reach by bicycle. There are several bicycle parking facilities near the beach and boulevard operated by Biesieklette, where you can leave your bike.
